Walter founded Chambers O’Brien, a boutique firm, in Sarasota, Florida in 2009 but entered the recruiting business initially in 2001 when he purchased a Management Recruiters International franchise. He has over thirty-five years of experience owning and operating various small business enterprises and has personally recruited and employed hundreds of people during his career.  

Transitioning into executive search was a natural progression as hiring exceptional people for his own SMB ventures was always his top priority. 

Walter’s first legal placement was in 2008 when he filled an IP Counsel position for a technology client that was struggling for many months to hire an exceptional attorney with the right mix of skills and experience. Working directly with the company’s General Counsel, Walter utilized the USPTO practitioner database, identified a highly experienced IP attorney, and filled the position in a matter of weeks. This individual is still on the job all these years later so this placement was definitely a win-win for everyone!

Working as a Senior Recruiter for a global insurance and financial services company, Walter filled close to 200 technology, corporate, and legal positions in 2.5 years in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Business and technology have been his professional interests for decades, and the primary reason he limits his legal recruiting focus to these core domains. 

Today, Walter’s work is mostly focused on confidentially locating lateral opportunities for law firm partners and select associates.
